LOCAL MINISTRY NETWORK NEWS
WE HAVE OUR FIRST PRESIDENT
As Chair of the Steering Group I am delighted to report that Bishop Anthony Priddis
of Hereford has accepted our invitation to be President of our Network.
He has kindly agreed to meet representatives of the Steering Group probably once or
twice a year and help us with our thinking and direction and to be a presence for us in
the wider church.
Those of you who were at last year’s conference, when we had the benefit of his
presence with us, will I am sure be as delighted as we are on the Steering Group that
he has agreed to make some of his valuable time available to us. This is an important
step in the wider role of the Network and cause for real encouragement.
Our next annual conference of the Local Ministry Network is scheduled for 26th to
28th April 2013. We have again gone for a weekend, encouraged as we were by the
increased attendance last time, especially of lay people.
We are delighted also to report that Bishop Paul Bayes, Bishop of Hertford, has
agreed to be with us throughout the conference and to be our keynote speaker this
year. We are indeed fortunate to have the encouragement, insights and challenge he
will bring to us as an active serving Bishop who has much experience of collaborative

We have the capacity this conference for 20 more attenders than last year. Please do

Please pass the word on and sooner rather than later as some need good notice

YOUR OPPRTUNITY TO MAKE SUGGESTIONS
Thank you to all who spent time supplying us with feedback after last year’s
conference. We have tried to incorporate as many ideas as possible.
If you have had any fresh thoughts on any topics you would particularly like
to be addressed at the next conference, a prompt e mail by return would ensure
consideration at our next meeting but any suggestions will be welcome at any time.
OUR WIDER ROLE
I am conscious that on the Steering Group we do rather get taken up with arranging
the conference. We do however have another important role around fostering
collaborative ministry in the wider church.
To this end we have been trying to develop our contact with ministry division in
Church House with the help of Joanna Cox. We hope to have more on this in due
WHAT PROGRESS HAS BEEN MADE SINCE LAST CONFERENCE ?
Has there been any progress in local collaborative ministry in you area? Did attending
the conference help you move on? Are there any success stories to celebrate?
It would be good to hear from anyone with an encouraging story.
I hope we are not just a talking shop!
I would be really delighted to hear from anyone about their experiences since last
conference, good or difficult.
It would also be particularly good to hear from those who attended for the first time
last year or those from dioceses who were dipping their toes in the water. Could we
be doing something more to support you now, rather than just waiting until next years
Please do respond.
I look forward to meeting you all (and more!) in Coventry next year,
Best wishes in Christ’s service
